Rebecca Puchkors is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who has worked in psychiatric nursing since 2011, caring for adolescents and adults with a range of mental health concerns. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Maryville University of Saint Louis, along with her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her nursing career began with an associate degree from El Centro College in Dallas.
“My approach is collaborative and patient-centered, with a focus on recovery. I want to help you find the right treatment plan to improve your symptoms and your overall quality of life. Throughout our work together, I strive to create a comfortable, respectful environment where you feel heard and stay actively involved in your care.”
Rebecca spent a decade at UT Southwestern Medical Center, starting as a registered nurse on the inpatient psychiatry and ECT unit and eventually leading those services as Clinical Nursing Manager. She later served as a Psychiatric Resource Nurse at Children’s Hospital Dallas before moving into advanced practice as a PMHNP in 2024. Alongside her clinical work, she is a certified Adult/Adolescent and Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner at The Turning Point, which informs the trauma-informed lens she brings to every patient relationship.
Teaching and advocacy are a big part of Rebecca’s career. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing, and she served as a contributing author and content lead for the OpenStax Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing textbook. With the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, she has served as president of the Texas Chapter and as national faculty for its suicide prevention and Recovery to Practice programs. Her work has earned recognition that includes the Texas Nurses Association’s Top 25 Nurses in 2025 and D Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing award.
Rebecca is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the Texas Nurse Practitioners Association, the International Association of Forensic Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau. She believes recovery looks different for everyone, and she works closely with each patient to find a path forward that fits their needs.
